"Elévation" n'est autre que le cinquième projet d'Anggun, un disque qui succède à "Luminescence", couronné disque de platine dans l'Hexagone, mais aussi à l'export. Ces deux oeuvres affichent bien plus de points communs qu'on ne le croit : Anggun avait amorcé un virage "urbain" grâce au premier, elle réalise aujourd'hui, avec le deuxième, une sortie de tournant pour s'engager, à toute allure, vers une variété-pop mutante trouvant ses inspirations vers le hip-hop et le R&B.

Entourée de Tefa & Masta, connus pour leurs travaux avec Diam's, Sinik ou encore Kery James, la brune au tempérament de feu donne dans les productions "neptuniesques", notamment sur le morceau "Cette nuit". Quelques mesures plus tard, elle se transforme en bombe de nuit sur l'arabisante "Tentation", avant de s'approprier l'anglais sur une ballade guitare-voix douce intitulée "Eden In Your Eyes". Reine des musiques urbaines sur "J'ignorais tout", elle tire même vers la pop-dance sur "Si tu l'avoues", avant d'inviter des stars françaises et internationales du hip-hop : Sinik, Big Ali, Tunisiano et même Pras des ex-Fugees...
